Show Tooltips: When ticked this enables some helpful tips when hovering a mouse over certain prompts.

AusVantage menus alphabetic: When ticked this will display the menus in alphabetic order

Initially Display: When login you can specify whether to automatically display Diary messages or have a nominated program automatically open.

Default Printer Assignment: Allows a default printer to be defined for this user

Default Archive Forms Queue: Default forms queue number for report archiving

Region: This will allow a pre-defined region code to be saved against this user and if the region is setup with a time difference, then all processing will use the regional time instead of the server time.

	Aus Vantage Helpdesk Tip: Grid Search V8 has powerful filtering options available within all grids. To quickly search for text within all columns in a grid, right-click at the top of the grid and choose “Show Find Panel”. Then input the required data in the search box. The grid will filter and highlight the search data only displaying lines containing this data. In the example below it has highlighted all instances of “99” and filtered to show only these lines. Another search option is to right-click at the top of the grid and choose “Show Auto Filter Row” This allows a column search for matching data. By default, it will search the column for items beginning with the entered search data. In example below, enter “000050” to search for all invoices starting with this sequence, or enter the whole invoice number. To change the search criteria from characters at the beginning, click the words “Edit Filter” at the bottom right of the grid after entering the initial search. This gives other options. Add a launch screen with AusVantage V8 version 8.1.3

The user options screen is designed for each user to be able to go in and set some parameters which relate only to their login. E.g. Set a default printer number or sort the menus alphabetically. A new option has been added to allow a user to open a particular screen automatically whenever they log into AusvantageV8.

Any program can be chosen by entering its program code. The program code can be found by opening the required program and looking at the start of the tab description.

Tip from the Helpdesk: Checking invoices on hold in AusVantage

When users create a supplier/non-supplier invoice, users can nominate to put the invoice on hold, which means payments cannot be applied to it.

To check which invoices are on hold, users can run the Outstanding Invoices Report and choose to print only Held invoices.

The Uniware Touch project is smartphone/tablet friendly and has been specifically designed for Area Managers and Sales Representatives.

We are seeking Uniware customers to participate in the beta testing our new integrated salesforce application during the month of February 2015. As part of the beta testing, we will be taking on-board recommendations to enhance the features and functionalities of the Uniware application.

The tablet application includes (but not limited to) the following functionalities:

• Place orders in both online and offline environments

Tips from the Helpdesk: Picking Confirmation

In Picking Confirmation, clicking Enter or typing “REL” at the Product Code prompt are the same as choosing the option “Release with details”. This will prompt for the Carrier Details & Ancillaries, and then prompt for the Payment Method.

Typing “GO”, or choosing the option “Complete – defaults” will skip over the Carrier & Ancillaries screen and go straight to the Payment Method screen.

Similarly, in Sales Order Entry and Transaction Maintenance, “GO” or choosing the option “Complete – defaults” can be used to skip the Carrier & Ancillaries screen, while leaving the order as an open order.

Does your payment gateway comply with PCI data security standards?

On versions of Ausvantage up to 2.8.4 (prior to V8), “Exchange Rate History” is under System Data Maintenance:

This screen shows for each currency its exchange rate and the last date the exchange rate was modified. A right-click allows the detailed history to be shown for the selected currency.

In AusVantage V8, the option Exchange Rate History is in System Data Maintenance -> General Code Definitions.

The screen below is used to display previous exchanges rates of the pre-defined foreign currencies. This screen shows for each currency its exchange rate and the last date the exchange rate was modified.

Once in this screen, a user can expand the “+” icon next to the currency code you want to view and it will list the history.

Uniware are in a position to install the latest ‘patch’ on your system and block this vulnerability.

It is estimated that the installation of this patch will take no longer than 30 minutes and will not disrupt your normal business processing during this installation.

These types of updates are not covered by any of our maintenance agreements therefore the time, estimated at 30 minutes, will be charged at our prevailing time and materials rates.

While we do not believe there is an immediate threat to your system, these security patches should be applied as soon as possible to ensure system integrity at all times.

Customers who have their AusVantage/DISTRIB ERP application hosted from the Uniware Data Centre need-not-worry as the appropriate patches have been installed.

In an effort to influence the widespread adoption of encryption on the web, Google is altering its algorithms to favourably rank websites that use HTTPS.

Google I/O has called for “HTTPS everywhere” on the 6^th of August, 2014 to ensure that the websites accessed from Google are secure. Webmasters are adopting HTTPS (also known as HTTP over TLS, or Transport Layer Security), on their websites which is encouraging. TLS has two major advantages over non-encrypted internet traffic. By encrypting the data as it travels between end users and servers, third parties with the ability to monitor the connection cannot read or tamper with the content. Secondly, TLS provides a means to cryptographically validate that a server claiming to belong to Google, Bank of America or any other website is authentic.

Tests have been conducted over several months taking into account whether sites use secure, encrypted connections as a signal in Google search ranking algorithms. Positive results have been seen and this has resulted in the use of HTTPS as a ranking signal. It is said that the signal at this stage carries less weight than other signals such as high-quality content. Over time, Google intends to strengthen this ranking signal. Webmasters are encouraged to switch from HTTP to HTTPS in order to keep everyone safe.

According to Google`s online security blog, they intend to make TLS adoption easier by assisting website owners avoid common mistakes by providing detailed best practises in coming weeks. Here are a few basic tips:

• Decide the kind of certificate you need: single, multi-domain, or wildcard certificate
• Use 2048-bit key certificates
• Use relative URLs for resources that reside on the same secure domain
• Use protocol relative URLs for all other domains

• Don’t block your HTTPS site from crawling using robots.txt
• Allow indexing of your pages by search engines where possible. Avoid the noindex robots meta tag

AusVantage V8: New options for System Operation Parameters

A new option has been added to System Operation Parameters to allow a default answer to be specified at the end of Goods Receipt. Users will be prompted whether they wish to release any outstanding back orders for the products just received, and whether they wish to raise an estimate. Currently, both these questions default options are set to “No”.

Each of these prompts can be set to “Yes”, “No” or “X” to skip displaying the prompt completely if the answer would always be “No”. This will make the processing of Goods Receipts more efficient by either skipping the unneeded prompts or defaulting them to the required answer.

Tips from the Helpdesk: How to update Debtor email addresses when listed as N/A in Debtors File Maintenance

Users will need to access Standard Forms Details in System -> System Data Maintenance -> Setup Functions -> Standard Forms Details in order to enable an email input.

The screen below shows the various document types and options on how to send them. Users cannot type over the “n/a” segment in Debtors File Maintenance – Printing Options where “n/a” is against Remittance because there is no email template defined in Standard Form Details. Please see the example below.

Updating a Debtors email address against the Remittance Advice printing option will enable users to email Remittances instead of printing them. If the Remittance email option is left blank then the AusVantage system will resort to using the Default email address that can be specified in the first line of the above screen.

The below screen displays where a user can set-up the email template for the Remittance Advice.

The below is the Printing Options in Debtors File Maintenance after input of the form name in the Standard Forms Details screen.

Users now have the option to highlight either the Remittance advice line (or the top line: Default) as shown below and enter an email address.
